City of Sugarland Traffic Box Art Project

The City of Sugar Land Civic Arts sought regionally-based artists to transform traffic signal control boxes in Sugar Land from functional infrastructure into colorful inspired works of art. The selected artists comprised a diverse cross-section of the local and regional community.

One of my submissions entitled ‘Looking Ahead To A Southern Paradise in Sugar Land’ was selected and is on display at the Traffic Box at Hull Ln near Cullinan Park in Sugarland.

The artwork is inspired by the vibrant colors and diversity that exists in natural flora and vegetation. It portrays the exuberance and joy of freely experiencing the outdoors after the restrictive pandemic years . It showcases the natural beauty and colorful surroundings of Sugar Land with the variety of flowers and plants depicting its cultural diversity.
